Review: Art Deco mani using Floss Gloss Stun, Dimepiece and Partybruise!

I'm always on the lookout for new polish brands and I'd seen Floss Gloss around the place and thought I'd give it a shot.  I'm so glad I did because they are so very super sparkly and awesome.  I've been moving away from the traditional polish reviews lately as I like to contribute to the internet something that hasn't been done before. I really wanted to try out these polishes so the hardest part was trying to find out how to incorporate a coral, very dark brow, gold glitter and silver glitter polishes in the one mani.  Why not jump aboard the art deco train and do something with triangles and call it art deco?

I initially did a mani involving coral and brown stripes over the gold and silver glitter but it really wasn't working for me.  For my second attempt, I started with two coats of Partybruise, a really awesome brown so dark it could be black.  Application was good - you only need the two coats - and it's something different from just using black all the time.  After it and my coat of Seche Vite were dry, I went to work with my tape.   I started by cutting "M" shapes out of painter's tape for the silver polish.  Dimepiece has excellent coverage for a purely glitter polish - I only needed the one coat here.  After adding another coat of Seche Vite and letting everything dry, I switched to clear tape and taped off the V's for the gold polish, Stun. Everything was sealed off with another coat of Seche Vite and I was done.

The Verdict:  These polishes are awesome and not too expensive either.  I didn't get to post the vine of this manicure, but the one above is using the same silver glitter over Sally Hansen Celeb City and it'll give you a true idea of just how amazing it is.  And yay, art deco!

Review: Deborah Lippmann Va Va Voom, LOOK AT THE SPARKLY

I'm trying really hard lately to not buy nail polish.  Or at least buy less.  It's hard because nail polish is my fun thing to buy, my luxury, even though I have ten times what the average person would consider an excessive collection.  A lady at the beauty supply place joked about an intervention today!  Like, shhhhhhhh this is my safe place.  Anyway, I saw Deborah Lippmann Va Va Voom the other day and it was too sparkly and I bought it so there's that.  LOOK AT IT.

I don't know what it is about the glitter jellies, I just can't resist them.  I love how they build to have this incredibly complex, deep finish.  Va Va Voom is no exception.  It's several different sizes of hex holo glitter in a deep blue jelly base.  Here I layered it over one coat of a similar blue creme polish but I don't think you need to do it, it builds up to be opaque enough on its own.  I applied three coats here because I wanted more glitter but you could get away with one or two.  THIS POLISH IS AWESOME AND I WANT MORE LIKE IT PLEASE.

The Verdict:  This polish was totally worth breaking my I-shouldn't-buy-polish thing for.  I can't resist glitter and this is sparkly and that is good, the end.

GUYS GUYS GUYS I OPENED A SHOP!!

GUYS GUYS GUYS LOOK I DID A THING!  I've been light on the blogging lately because I've been working really hard on a totally new thing: THE SPARKLY SHOP!! I've been incredibly obsessed with nail charms lately and kinda got carried away buying them to the point where I realised I could totally sell them.  I wanted to show you some of my favourites here, and to let you know you can get 15% of any charms if you use the discount code BLOGGYPANTS.  OMG SO EXCITING YOU GUYS.

First up, we have the magnificent bicycle charms!  Enamel, rhinestones and gold for bike complete with a basket and pedals.  I nearly died.

Next, Zebras!  The teeniest little guys, all stripy and whatnot. You know you want a safari on your nails.

These are not holographic as I'm sure they've been described as before, but in fact multichrome rainbow cubes!  Yeah.  And pearls.  And sparklies.

It's ok if you aren't into safaris, what about the magical ocean?  Yeah, you want whales with bows on.

These daisy charms are awesome for when you can't be bothered doing fancy nails, but you want fancy nails.  Stick one of these on and instant fancy.

These bear absolutely no reference to a coffee shop chain and any resemblance is just a coincidence.  Yay for Coffee Shop Mermaids!

I don't think there's ever been a time in my life where I've said, no, I don't think having unicorns on my nails would make my day better.  Shinnnnnyyyy unicorns!

Do you know how cute it is to have teeny lizards on your nails?  VERY CUTE.  Especially if you draw little footprints on your nails behind the charms and pretend they're hitching a ride.

Last but not least, Princesses Sally and Sarah Octopus, friends with the whale twins.  Look at their crowns! eeeeee.

The Verdict: OBVIOUSLY I'm biased here but I'm so happy with how the shop turned out.  I've been wanting to do something on the internet for such a long time and here we are.  Sparklies for everyone!!!!!!  Especially with a discount code of BLOGGYPANTS!

I also want to really really thank Chantelle.  She's my business partner in the Sparkly Shop and without her incredible organisational and packing skills, this totally wouldn't have happened.  I <3 you Chantelle!
