HAHAHAH I'M NOT CRAY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN THESE ARE NORMAL NAILS

Ok so for a while there I wasn't working.  Love that, it's the best, cos sleeping is awesome.  While I should have been using the time to pump out the nails, I used it to go through all 283 pages of the nail art supplies section of aliexpress.com. This site is really amazing, cos it's so cheap.  You can get 10,000 rhinestones for $3.  So I bought a bunch of 3D nail charms.  I then decided it would be a good idea to put them all on at one.  TACKYTIME YAY ADHERE ALL THE THINGS!

Ok so my boyfriend HATES these.  Like, HATES them.  He's pretty tolerant of my nails but this apparently the line.  Like, he yelped when he saw them.  DON'T CARE, THESE ARE NOT FOR YOU.  So I did a rainbow ombre thing with Urban Outfitters Ringo, Claire's Neon Green, and others - I can't remember and I don't really want to get up to check so there.  I then just stuck all these on with nail glue. The charms will come off but I have no idea how I'm going to get the glue off.  I just love these though because it's the most tacky and loud and so very much me.  And I'm ok with that.

The Verdict: Typing is hard right now cos the hearts on my thumbs stick out a lot but DON'T CARE.  These are the craziest nails I've ever done and I'm quite proud of myself.  Worth it!

Balls-out Nuts 2: The Hex Nail Charms!

Ok so I loved those nails I did last weekend.  Balls-out crazy pants, rendered me unable to get my shoes and actually woke me up because they got tangled together, and 100% amazing.  These are it.  I'm basically jelly that I can't do them again this week so I'm improvising and applied all my Hex Nail Charms.  So much classier than last weekends' and coincidently the most expensive nails I've ever done.  So yay for sticking all the charms!

Yeah it was really hard to get excited about just about anything after last weekend.  I was looking longingly at my charms case and noticed I hadn't used my Hex Nail Charms in a while.  After applying three coats of Demolition Polish Dead Man's Touch which is a nice black holo polish I just went nuts with my nail glue.  Just like, pool it on your nail, try and fail not to stick your fingers together or get it in your cuticles then bung the charms on.  Tweezers are ok but if you have sharp sewing scissors, they're really good for picking up and placing the charms.  If you use your finger, you'll get it stuck to it and get fingerprints on the charm.  But yeah, bam I'm a fancy ladyyyyyyyyyy.

The Verdict: I'm happy with this on two fronts: it actually stands up as being interesting and cray after last week and I have close to $50 worth of charms just on my right hand.  Yiissssssssss.

Review: All Three Zoya Pixie Dust's, Cosmo, Vega and Lux!

As you can imagine given the size of my polish collection, I'm pretty well known at the beauty supply places around Toronto.  My main source of Zoyas, Trade Secrets in the Eaton Centre, is good but they're slow on getting the new stuff.  It's gotten to the point where I hassle the nice manager man to get more and have raided his stock even before it gets to the shelves.  Anyway, I was super excited about the Zoya Magical Pixie Dusts polishes cos you can't lose with holo + texture.  Turns out you kinda can...

This is actually the third time I've tried the three Magical Pixie Dust's Cosmo, Vega and Lux.  I first tried a gradient and then zig-zags.  Both were really disappointing.  All three of these polishes are oddly sheer and take about a million years to dry.  It took a modified version of a top coat sandwich to get these even close to dry.  For this polish I started with two coats of an appropriate Color Club Halo Hues polish then a coat of Seche Vite.  This game me a base that was pretty close to the tone of these polishes.  I then added a coat of the silver, then dabbed on the pink and blue.  Of course I added snowflake charms, I can't stop buying things from Aliexpress and these seemed appropriate.  Once it dries it does wear well, so there's that I guess.  And sparkly.

The Verdict:  I like how these come out, especially with the snowflakes.  I just wish these polishes dried faster and kept the same strength of colour you see in the bottle.  Whatever, it's different so ultimately I support it.

Cherry Nails! With More Cherries!

Just like there's a whole patch my brain that lights up for sparklies, there's another patch for miniature things. Just anything miniature.  I want it.  Can you imagine what then happens if you combine miniature AND sparkly?? Like, I die.  So even though I can't generally put my hands in my pockets these days it's so very worth it for the nail charms.  And cherries go with cherries, right??

Ok so I knew I wanted a white base here because I had a skirt my mum made me growing up that had basically this pattern.  I see cherries, I want to put them on a white background.  So I applied my three coats of OPI Alpine Snow, whack my cherries on with LOTS of nail glue and then decided it needed more.  Using top coat, I applied red holo circle glitter, painted on stalks with a fine brush and green polish and covered it all in the usual top coat.  BAM SPARKLY TINY CHERRIES.  WITH TINIER CHERRIES.

The Verdict: :D I love over-the-top nails, these are over the top, HAPPY LAURA :D:D:D:D:D:D

MWHAHAHAHA STILL NOT CRAY I SWEAR, JUST ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT CHARMS

It's hardly a secret that I like sparkly things.  Glitter?  Awesome. Sparkly tiny charms? Also awesome.  I've had so many new awesome ones I knew it was time to do Crazy Tacky Nails 2!  I love that it's hard here to tell where my nails stop and the ring begins.  Yay for charms!  Let's take a closer look, shall we?

One of the hardest parts of these kinds of crazy nails is actually getting the charms off the nail.  I've found that if you give it a nice, deep polish base you can use an orange stick to lever off the charms without hurting your nail.  THIS IS RISKY THOUGH.  I'm ok with the risk but if you're a proper person just use acetone.  Anyway, I started with three coats of OPI My Vampire is Buff and just kinda slapped on some of the Color Club Halo Hues polishes.  Then, starting with the biggest charms, I used nail blue to stick the charms on.  BAM CRAY NAILS.

The Verdict: I love these so much, especially the bikes, cherries and lizards.  My bf still hates them but too bad, they aren't for him!  Yay tackiness!

GUYS GUYS GUYS I OPENED A SHOP!!

GUYS GUYS GUYS LOOK I DID A THING!  I've been light on the blogging lately because I've been working really hard on a totally new thing: THE SPARKLY SHOP!! I've been incredibly obsessed with nail charms lately and kinda got carried away buying them to the point where I realised I could totally sell them.  I wanted to show you some of my favourites here, and to let you know you can get 15% of any charms if you use the discount code BLOGGYPANTS.  OMG SO EXCITING YOU GUYS.

First up, we have the magnificent bicycle charms!  Enamel, rhinestones and gold for bike complete with a basket and pedals.  I nearly died.

Next, Zebras!  The teeniest little guys, all stripy and whatnot. You know you want a safari on your nails.

These are not holographic as I'm sure they've been described as before, but in fact multichrome rainbow cubes!  Yeah.  And pearls.  And sparklies.

It's ok if you aren't into safaris, what about the magical ocean?  Yeah, you want whales with bows on.

These daisy charms are awesome for when you can't be bothered doing fancy nails, but you want fancy nails.  Stick one of these on and instant fancy.

These bear absolutely no reference to a coffee shop chain and any resemblance is just a coincidence.  Yay for Coffee Shop Mermaids!

I don't think there's ever been a time in my life where I've said, no, I don't think having unicorns on my nails would make my day better.  Shinnnnnyyyy unicorns!

Do you know how cute it is to have teeny lizards on your nails?  VERY CUTE.  Especially if you draw little footprints on your nails behind the charms and pretend they're hitching a ride.

Last but not least, Princesses Sally and Sarah Octopus, friends with the whale twins.  Look at their crowns! eeeeee.

The Verdict: OBVIOUSLY I'm biased here but I'm so happy with how the shop turned out.  I've been wanting to do something on the internet for such a long time and here we are.  Sparklies for everyone!!!!!!  Especially with a discount code of BLOGGYPANTS!

I also want to really really thank Chantelle.  She's my business partner in the Sparkly Shop and without her incredible organisational and packing skills, this totally wouldn't have happened.  I <3 you Chantelle!

Minimalist Carmen Miranda Nails!

I don't have quite the same volume of time free to do my nails I used to, because I now have to commute 20 whole minutes to get to work and I keep falling asleep at crazy early times.  This usually results in me slapping on the nearest polish I can get away with two coats of and then accenting with as many charms I fancy at the time.  Charms are the best for making your nails fancy with no effort what-so-ever.  Yesterday I felt like wearing smiley-face charms with pineapples on top.  It took stablenails on Instagram pointing it out that I'd inadvertently created minimalist Carmen Miranda nails.  THIS PLEASES ME, THANK YOU STABLENAILS.

To start, I applied three coats of Sephora Formula X Equinox, a really pretty foily purple duochrome polish.  I know I said two but this really does look better with three.  After sealing said coats off with Seche Vite, I used nail glue to apply my Sparkly Shop Smiley Face and Pineapple charms.   I love these charms so much, like, LOOK AT THEM.  Especially the pineapples. They're small and flat so they even stay on well, if you're not the type for giant King Cobras.  I wear those cobras so much, they make me feel badass.  Anyway, minimalist Carmen Miranda nails!  Woo!

The Verdict:  Sure, I'm biased with these charms cos I chose them in the first place but LOOK AT THEM.  I can't believe I didn't notice what the combo looked like too.  Woo for crazy charms!

DON'T FORGET, IF YOU WANT 15% OFF AT THE SPARKLY SHOP, USE THE CODE BLOGGYPANTS.  I WANT EVERYONE TO HAVE CHARMS AND SPARKLIES.  Totally not for money, I swear.

Turns out Unicorn Charms Go With EVERYTHING INCLUDING DOTS

So I conceptually get dotting tools.  They're a good idea and some people have done amazing things with them but I just can't get a satisfactory result of them.  The dots are  never completely even.   That's usually when I say screw it and use glitter.  I LOVE YOU AND YOUR CONSISTENCY GLITTER.  Especially circle glitter.  And unicorns always make things better.

To start I did the usual two coats of China Glaze Liquid Leather and went to town with my Essence top coat to get the white dots on.  It's easiest if you do a row down the middle of your nail first as this will set the spacing for the rest of the nail.  Just keep the distance consistent for the next column.  You can use a small pair of scissors to trim any excess off the tips of your nails.  Once dry, use a bunch of nail glue to stick your unicorns from The Sparkly Shop on.  Yay unicorns!

The Verdict: I like the look of glitter so much more than that of dotting tools.  Even takes about the same amount of time, believe it or not.  And these unicorns go with EVERYTHING.

Ohhh yeah and also, you can finally get the same glitter I use for all these manis!  I have glitter sets for sale now at The Sparkly Shop.  And unicorns too!  Use the code BLOGGYPANTS to even get 16% your order!  Sorry to be pushy but you are helping a mother at home with her baby and me, who loves sparklies.  Sparklies!
